AP: NFL invites rookie plaintiff Von Miller to attend draft

The NFL invited Texas A&M linebacker Von Miller -- a named plaintiff in the antitrust suit against the league -- to the draft next month, the AP reported on Wednesday.

Miller is one of 10 individuals spearheading the Tom Brady vs. the NFL suit filed March 11. Its filing, coupled with the decertification of the NFLPA as a union, was a precursor to the NFL locking players out on March 12.

The prospect, who could be a top-10 selection in the April 28 draft, has not yet said if he will attend.

The NFLPA announced this week that it would not hold a competing event for players during the draft -- as it had considered -- and would allow individual prospects to decide whether to attend. The NFLPA will hold a three-day-long celebration for the players in New York City that complements the draft.

Alabama WR Julio Jones and Iowa DE Adrian Clayborn have already said they will accept the NFL's invitation to the draft.

On March 13, Miller's agent, Joby Branion, told USA TODAY he didn't think his client's place as a plaintiff against the NFL would affect his draft stock.

"You certainly would hope not," Branion said. "I think Von's draft status should stand on the things that should be evaluated, his athletic talent, his proven record on the field and his proven record off the field."
